Affordable, portable, high quality, self-adjusting projectors are real??

That's an open question! I met with a fancy client company this week, and the meeting involved use of an LG Cinebeam projector. It amazed me—I didn't realize the technology had come this far—and I'm curious if there's something more affordable that comes close on some of this model's features. [more inside]

What tech has upgraded your life even though you are not techy?

I am not a techy person. Puzzling through buttons and menus does not come naturally to me. I don’t hunger for new devices and when forced to use new devices I often get anxious and irritated. But if something is genuinely useful and labor saving and not too hard to learn, I will get the hang of it and then wonder how I ever lived without it. [more inside]

OPEN SAYS-ME!

I need to e-mail a PDF to someone and I need to know if/when they've opened it. Is there a way to do this OTHER than an e-mail read receipt? For what it's worth, the file doesn't even have to be a PDF if there's a workaround using some other platform...I'm using Outlook, Office 365, and an old version of Acrobat XI Pro (on a work computer without admin rights, so I can't install anything else).

2024 - Web Dev People - what tools do you AND your clients love using?

I'm a web/app developer moving freelance (though keeping door open to permanent positions as well) just under 3 years after a career change. I have pretty strong fundamentals in JS (React, Vue), PHP (Laravel) and SQL (Postgres), but I feel in the current market some more specific / specialised tool / platform skills would help me stand out and put myself forward for more diverse / interesting / better paid opportunities. Ideas? [more inside]
