“Implantation”?

What does “implantation work” mean in the tech world, maybe business or finance? I googled the term but got dental / medical definitions.

Best answer: What's the context in which you heard or saw this? Is there any chance it was meant to be implementation?

Response by poster: Could be. A friend said he could really have used X for his implantation jobs. I think he had something to do with vetting software programs?

phunniemee has a good point. Another possibility is "imputation", which can refer to the process of replacing missing data with substituted values. Perhaps your friend was doing something with software related to data analysis. Now that I think about it, though, "implementation" seems more likely.

Could he mean “embedded”, as in a consultant who is working T the client’s site?

Response by poster: Also possibly - he did go from client to client. But phunniemee’s guess seems to fit the context most fully.

Thanks, y’all!

Ion implantation is a standard part of semiconductor fabrication, but it sounds like that is not what you're talking about.

Best answer: If he’s going client to client he meant implementation meaning he’s not doing strategy or consulting primarily but is building software. This could mean Wordpress site to giant $20 million or more software build outs.

Watches sayings the client knows they want a house, they have an architect, they bought the land and he’s building it out.

99% sure they were saying "implementation." An implementation consultant in tech, as geoff. says, would typically go from client to client helping them "implement" a software or approach in their business. For example, implementation consultants work a lot with complex systems like Salesforce, helping a business extract data from their old system, set up their new one for what they will need, and import the data in.
