At the beginning of October, I'll be spending a few days in the Matsumoto area of the Northern Japan Alps. Since I won't have time for a multiday trek, I'm looking for a few quick 'n dirty, four or five mile hikes to get to spots with expansive views--as well as trips on ropeways to access a view point. Your best hits list?

I'll be in Japan in February and I'm wondering whether it's worth it to visit Miyajima island and the torii gate, given the typical weather that time of year. The plan is to take the train in from Kyoto, stay at a ryokan on Miyajima one night and then head out. I'd like to visit the Peace Park on the way to or from Miyajima, as well.

We're going to Japan from May 27th-June 11th. I'd like to see a Hiroshima Toyo Carp game if possible. It seems the 2023 schedules are released, but I can't find them in English. Does anyone either: know where I can find the schedule in English; have a solid plan of where I can find it in Japanese and get it auto-translated; or speak enough Japanese to just tell me when the Carp are at home during that span?

I'm moving to Kyoto next month, I don't know anyone there, and it would be useful to have IRL connections to help with the lay of the land. My Mormon colleague (I'm in Utah!) jokingly suggested I join the church, because that would totally provide those types of connections, and he's not wrong: something like that - without the religion angle - would be ideal. What other IRL groups could I consider joining to create connections in Kyoto?

This is a bit of a Hail Mary: I'm enrolled in a Japanese language course in Kyoto starting in July, I was intending to hand in my notice at work and for my apartment tomorrow, and last night I learned that the apartment agencies affiliated with the broker I'm using (Go Go Nihon) are all fully booked, at least until September. Staying in an airbnb for a few months seems the obvious answer, and I asked the Go Go Nihon agent about this last night but they did not reply. Could there be any issue with doing this?
