Montreal YUL to Bonaventure

I am interested in getting from YUL to Bonaventure or Gare Centrale via transit. It looks like there is a bus that runs to another Metro station, which can then be taken to Bonventure. That looks like a very long ride, possibly two hours or so. Are there other options to get to downtown, perhaps via commuter rail? [more inside]

Trip to Quebec end of June?

We have a long planned shot trip via car to Quebec (City) for the Jazz festival the last few days of June and into July. It’s hard to get good information on the expected situation there in three weeks–naturally enough. Should we just cancel and plan to go some other time?

Somewhere to violin for about an hour close to the montreal airport?

I'm trying to spend an entire year practicing my instrument every day (I have to play at least a little bit every 24 hours). Between December 11th (10pm) and 12th (8pm) I'll have a layover in the Montreal airport. I've never been to Montreal. Does anyone have suggestions for where I might be able to go to violin for an hour or two that's close enough that I'll not miss my flight?

Surprising, offbeat places for a date in Montreal next week?

I'm going to see a friend in Montreal next week and am struggling to find some interesting activity to suggest. Some place quiet where you can talk for hours would be ideal, unless it's a performance. The weirder the better. Complications: no unmasking indoors, non-strict vegetarians who don't drink, after 6pm on a weekday, combined French vocabulary of <200 words. [more inside]

Recommend a Montreal language experience for a vacation?

It's been years since I've been in Montreal due to the pandemic, and I've spent that time learning French. It's not great but I finished everything Duolingo has. I'd love to spend some time in Montreal for my return and put this language to work. Do you have any suggestions? [more inside]

Montreal standout restaurants and jazz clubs

I'll be in Montreal in June, and we're looking for some standout restaurants to make reservations for now, or just your favorite restaurants (any cuisine). Also, any recommendations on where to see some jazz? We're staying in the Hochelaga neighborhood, and we'll get around by public transport, car-share, and walking.

Navigating international air travel in the time of COVID

Due to life circumstances and general loneliness, I'm somewhat considering going to stay with my parents, who I haven't seen in a year, for an extended period around the holidays. (Please assume I'll take all reasonable COVID precautions and quarantine as part of this process.) This would require an international flight. It occurred to me recently that even though the flight I need is available for sale, it may end up getting canceled, making this trip impossible. How can I best investigate my options? [more inside]

Does anyone know or have an inkling of when borders will be reopened?

I'm probably worrying unnecessarily, but there are few answers out there and I don't think the media is accurate when it reports on certain things. I don't feel they are doing it on purpose, but I get the feeling that they do not have an understanding of the big picture as a whole when it comes to reporting scientific findings. [more inside]

Last minute trip to Montreal in 2 weekends...

Two women traveling. We love great restaurants (especially really unique ones), moseying through terrific shops, and amazing museums. I'd appreciate any suggestions for must dos and sees. Also any suggestion for the best neighborhood to stay would be welcomed.

Late autumn colours near Montreal/ Toronto

We are going to be in Montreal for work in early to mid October, and towards the end of the month will be traveling to Toronto for our flights out of Canada. Towards the end of October, we want to get out of Montreal and stay somewhere we can see autumn colours. Can you recommend either an area where we should look, or even a specific place to stay, with the restrictions described below the line? We are limited by not driving (though could combine, within reason, bus+taxi or train+taxi). [more inside]

Arriving at Montreal airport - how long to get out?

I will soon be flying to Montreal (from Europe) arriving around 15:30. How long, roughly, will it take for me to complete the arrivals process? I am hoping to catch a bus from the airport to Quebec City and was wondering which bus I will likely end up catching. Thanks!
