Android messages website keeps insta-crashing Chrome

Why does the Android messages website keep crashing Chrome?

As of yesterday, every time I try to open the Android messages site (messages.android.com) on my desktop PC, Chrome instantly shuts down. This happens even if I hover my mouse over the bookmark button for the website, without ever clicking it. The site opens fine in incognito mode, which Google suggests means there might be an extension problem at play, but I literally only have three extensions installed (two adblockers and an Adobe PDF thing) and I've tried turning them on and off in every combination (and even removing them) and it hasn't changed anything. I'm stumped. I just wanna read and send texts!

Best answer: I'd say it may be time to update Chrome, usually just by going to 3 dots // Help // About Chrome and it'll check and download and patch itself in seconds, then relaunch.

Next I'd try is reset the Chrome settings... 3 dots // Settings // Reset settings

I just tried my own and it runs fine, so the problem is in your setup somewhere. Given incognito runs fine, it's probably your profile settings that got corrupted, IMHO.

Response by poster: Resetting settings did the trick! Thanks so much, what a relief.

The hover over bookmark and crash thing was probably Chrome preloading the site, and whatever was causing Chrome to crash upon loading the site was happening right then.
