J'acuzzi (once again)

I've just started looking into hot tubs again. I've discovered that one can get 110 or 220v (In US) and that one can get refurbished tubs. What is your experience/opinion on these?

I bought a HT last year and never really considered a 110. I like powerful jets and hot water, both of which can be demanding when the temp dips below zero for weeks at a time.
I think a refurbished tub would be fine if it comes with a warranty. If the shell isn't compromised, everything else is just replaceable guts, and insulation all of which run the spectrum of quality.
I use my tub 5 days a week and found it well worth the investment.

A 110v unit should only be considered for the smallest, or inflatable, tubs. Our 400 gallon tub with its 220v, 4kW, heater will still drop a couple degrees in colder weather if the cover is fully off.

The only reason to consider a 110v tub is if you need to plug it into an existing receptacle. If it has to be hard wired, or you have to run a new outlet anyway, you might as well just install a 220. Or 221, whatever it takes.

We have a 110 tub that we plug into our back patio outlet. It's very basic, but it does filter water and make it hot, and the few repairs it's needed have been inexpensive, so that's all we need. We live in Texas, though, so it probably wouldn't stand up to a colder winter very well.
