Amazon and credit card details

I ordered two Things on Amazon.de, using my credit card (like always). A week later, I reported the card as lost and my bank locked it and sent me a completely new card. The Things I ordered are already on their way. Is there going to be a problem with the payment? And can I change my credit card info on my Amazon account immediately or will that mess things up more?

Response by poster: Argh, I just realised one of the items is a preordered book - so it hasn't been sent yet. If that makes a difference.

Last month my credit card was disabled for a dumb reason and I didn’t know it wasn’t working. When I made Amazon purchases with it, I just got an email from Amazon that said they weren’t able to process my payment and could I please authorize another form of payment. It was no problem at all. Your card has been charged for the item that’s en route and hasn’t been charged for the preorder item. However, if you add your new credit card info to your Amazon account, you can then go into your order history, click on that order and select “Change Payment Method”.

Hope that helps!

Amazon may charge your card a bit after you order, but they always charge before they actually ship it. So you don't need to worry about the actual shipped item. In the US amazon charges preorders immediately, but that might not be true in Germany. Either way it's fine and if they have a problem they will email you. Changing your payment method on the account does nothing to existing orders, as you can have multiple payment methods set up at the same time. You can change it now, or before you order next.

When my credit card was lost, i had a three pending transactions. The rep confirmed with me that I had made those transactions and simply switched them over to the new card and everything went thru at the appropriate time with no interruption.

Whenever there is a card issue with Amazon they always email you to update the card details so no orders will be cancelled.
